Kitchen Renovations in Victoria, BC

From an open concept to an island and bar, we at Michael Moser Contracting specialize in building kitchens that allow you to cook efficiently while you are entertaining your guests, and can be a gathering place for your family.

We specialize in remodelling the kitchen, installing new cabinets and countertops, and installing the right appliances that you will need. By understanding your vision, we offer a variety of recommendations and help renovate your kitchen based on your requirements.

We have been building kitchens for homeowners across Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay and Esquimalt since 2017. Some needed new cabinets and counters. Others had walls removed and plumbing relocated. We will tell you at the first visit which of those your kitchen needs.

What Your Kitchen Renovations Include

Modern white kitchen renovation with sleek cabinetry, built-in appliances, and black countertops by Michael Moser Contracting in Victoria, BC.

Design and layout planning.

Whether the kitchen stays where it is or the room gets opened up, we work the layout out with you before anything is ordered.

Demolition and disposal.

Old cabinets, counters, flooring and appliances removed and hauled away.

Plumbing, electrical and gas.

Relocated sinks and dishwashers, new appliance circuits, under cabinet and pot lighting, range hood venting to the exterior, and gas lines run by licensed trades.

Cabinetry and appliances.

Stock, semi custom or fully custom, measured, ordered and installed, including built in and panel ready appliances checked for fit before the order is placed.

Countertops and backsplash.

Quartz, granite and butcher block, templated after the cabinets are in so the fit is right.

Flooring, lighting and paint.

Carried through to the adjoining rooms where the old flooring stopped at a wall that is no longer there.

Final clean.

We bring in a cleaner at the end, so you get the room back the way it should be.

How We Work

1. A free consultation in your home. We look at the kitchen with you and be honest about what the room allows. Load bearing walls, plumbing stacks and the gas line decide what is realistic before the design does.

2. A written quote. Fixed and itemized rather than a rough number, so you know exactly what is included.

3. Scheduling and materials. Cabinets and stone carry the longest lead times. We settle the start date and the full materials list before demolition.

4. The build. One crew, on site consistently, and one person you can call with a question.

5. The final walkthrough. We go through the finished kitchen together and handle your list before we call it done.

What a Kitchen Renovation costs in Victoria

Bright custom kitchen renovation with white cabinetry, quartz countertops, green tile backsplash, and hardwood floors by Michael Moser Contracting in Victoria, BC.

Most contractor websites avoid this question. Here is where our work usually lands.

  • A refresh, $18,000 to $30,000. New counters, backsplash, sink, flooring, lighting and paint, with the existing cabinet boxes refaced or repainted. The right choice when the layout works and the kitchen simply looks dated.

  • A full kitchen renovation, $35,000 to $65,000. New cabinetry throughout, new counters, appliances, flooring and lighting, within the existing footprint. This is the range most of our clients end up in.

  • A layout change or custom build, $70,000 and up. Walls removed, an island added where there was not one, plumbing and gas relocated, and fully custom cabinetry.

Three things move that number most.

The cabinets. Cabinetry is the largest line on most kitchen quotes, and the gap between stock and fully custom is wide enough to change which range you land in.

Whether a wall comes out. A load bearing wall needs a beam, and a beam needs engineering and a load path to the foundation.

What is behind the old kitchen. Knob and tube wiring, undersized panels and unvented range hoods turn up regularly in older Victoria homes, and all of it has to be sorted while the walls are open.

Our quote is fixed and itemized. Anything discovered mid project is priced and approved in writing before we carry on.

Kitchen Renovation Questions We Get Asked

Recent project: cabinet upgrade on a first home

The client had just bought his first house and was working to a tight budget. The appliances and countertop were still good, so we replaced the cabinetry only and vented the new range hood properly to the outside.

Farmhouse-style kitchen, opened up.

This one went the other way. Walls came out, floors came up, and new plumbing and electrical were run before anything went back in. The finishing took the longest: floating cedar shelves, clad post and beam, and a barn door pantry.
